Every afternoon from 2:30-3:00 pm the preschool children participate in enrichment classes. Research shows that children learn best by doing, and the afternoon enrichment classes are designed to offer fun activities that stimulate your child’s mind with interactive hands-on activities. These classes are included as a part of your child’s day. Each week, your child will experience nature in our Garden of Life, a visit to Oscar’s Literacy House, prepare something delectable to eat in cooking class, travel to another country as they learn Spanish, and engage in technology with a visit to the computer lab.
Valley Presbyterian School Preschool children 2 years of age and up enjoy participating in the computer enrichment class. Your child will experience hands-on computer time as they use the keyboard and mouse to engage with the age appropriate learning programs on the computer. Studies have shown that children that have acquired the fundamental skills of using a computer score higher on academic tests and achieve better grades later on in school. This fun filled time on the computer is a great way to start your child on the road to academic success.
The cooking enrichment program allows the children to participate in hands-on cooking experiences. Each week during cooking class your child will explore the kitchen, tools needed to cook with, and all the components of using a recipe. Math, Science, Language, Cultural Diversity, socialization, creativity, physical, social emotional skills and cognitive development are just some of the many ways cooking enhances learning for your child. Your child will love to experience the taste, smell, and touch of different foods, as well as enjoy learning new words. Our cooking class encourages children to taste new foods which foster healthy food choices.
Every afternoon at Valley Presbyterian School Preschool the children 2 years of age and up participate in enrichment classes. In the Valley Presbyterian Garden of Life, your child will enjoy the rich learning experience that only time spent with nature can bring. Healthy food habits are fostered as the children experience growing healthy food to eat. We are truly blessed to be able to offer the wealth of learning that gardening can bring.
Visiting the Valley Presbyterian School Preschool library is one of several afternoon enrichment activities your child will be participating in. Each classroom enjoys their own special time as they choose, examine, and explore the world through books. Studies have shown that literacy experiences in early childhood enhance a love of reading and learning which lead to academic success later on in life. Children learn about authors, illustrators, parts of a book, types of books, as well as how to properly respect and care for books.
