Valley Presbyterian Christian School - Library

The Valley Presbyterian School library serves as a support to the classroom curriculum from kindergarten to sixth grade.

  • Our library has a collection of over 13,000 books.
  • Our library has an extensive collection of accelerated readers, which are books that not only serve to enrich our students, but also strengthens reading comprehension skills.
  • Each class comes to the library once a week and is able to check out two books per week: One free reader and one accelerated reader.
  • The library collection grows each year with new curriculum based books and accelerated readers.
  • The library is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
  • The library has a summer reading program that awards one student from each class for reading the most pages in their class, and recognizes every student that participated in the program in a special chapel.

Mrs. Gail Thompson

Library Media Tech

Mrs. Gail Thompson has been on our Valley Presbyterian School faculty since 1987. She began her long career at V.P.S. as an instructor in our Learning Lab, working in this capacity for 17 years. Mrs. Thompson earned certification as a Library Media Tech from College of the Canyons. She has served as our librarian since 2004. Mrs. Thompson’s daughter graduated from V.P.S. in 1992.

“I enjoy beginning each day in devotions with our V.P.S. staff. The love and dedication of every faculty member to every student is a joy to see.”

Favorite verse:

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Mrs. Thompson has two volunteers to assist her in the library:

  • Mrs. Koleda who was a loyal parent, has volunteered in our library for more than 30 years.
  • Mrs. Miller retired from V.P.S. as the bookkeeper and now enjoys volunteering her time in the library.  Mrs. Miller also has certification as a Library Media Tech.
