Valley Presbyterian Christian School - Music and Honor Choir

Valley Presbyterian School offers a comprehensive Music program for grades 1-6

Music Curriculum

Students will be introduced to music theory, note-reading, rhythm reading and the various genres of music. Performances will include a Christmas Concert and the students are guided in performance tips, learning the songs, movement, lyrics, etc.   Participation is mandatory.

 

Honor Choir

The school’s Honor Choir is comprised of third through sixth grade students that have passed an audition.  All Honor Choir students must maintain passing grades in all subjects and may not receive a “U” in Social Habits. Honor Choir students participate in several after school special music programs (PARTICIPATION IS MANDATORY. Family emergencies must be cleared through the Principal).Honor Choir is a full year commitment.

We participate in the annual A.C.S.I. Choral Festival.

Mrs. Rose Palmer

Music & Choir Instructor

Mrs. Rose Palmer began her relationship with V.P.S. when her youngest son, Marco attended V.P.S. She has been on staff since 2012.

Rose currently plays at several different churches, is director of the Gospel Choir at First Presbyterian Church, works in the music program at First Presbyterian Weekday School is the accompanist for St. John Eudes School, taught the Choir and Reflections classes at Los Angeles Baptist (now Heritage Christian School) and was musical director for ‘My Fair Lady’ and pianist for several musicals at Heritage.  She has performed at the Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall.

“I really enjoy the family atmosphere at V.P.S. and the wonderful support system between staff and families. It was a joy working with the children last year and I look forward to another great musical year!”
