Hello! My name is Christine McCorkle and I am the Preschool and Infant Center Director at Valley Presbyterian School. I have been associated with Valley Presbyterian School for many years, as a parent, teacher and administrator. I am truly blessed to be a part of this wonderful school ministry.
Since 1980, I have been a Christian School Educator, and my education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development from the University of La Verne in La Verne, California, an Associate of Science Degree in Child Development from College of the Canyons in Valencia, California, a teaching certificate in Child Development from Mission College in Sylmar, California and a Child Development Program Director Permit from the state of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
It is my desire to provide each child with an environment of acceptance and love in order to achieve his or her full potential to learn and achieve. My career of over 30 years in the field has enabled me to bring the best experiences for young children to Valley Presbyterian Preschool and Infant Center in order to offer a quality Christ-centered Developmental education that fosters the spiritual, social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of each child.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, and my favorite Bible verse is Psalm 91. I consider it a privilege to join with you in beginning your child’s educational journey.
Hello! My name is Alice Reynosa and I am the Preschool and Infant Center Office Manager. I have been a part of the ministry at Valley Presbyterian School since 2010. I am married and have two wonderful daughters who have been students here since 2008. My Child Development education was at Vanguard University. What I enjoy most about being office manager is being able to help children, whether it is providing band aids for injuries, distributing the hot lunch, or greeting them as they arrive in the morning. The verse I often reflect on is in Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” I truly feel blessed each and every day to be part of what God is doing in our preschool and infant center.
My name is Cindy Robles and I have been an Early Child hood Educator for 24 years and have a college degree that includes a concentration in Early Childhood Education. I have served at Valley Presbyterian School for 14 years. I thank God for leading me to Valley Presbyterian School so that I can teach the children about our Lord. It is rewarding and joyful to teach them to pray and to provide a safe and loving environment in which they can grow. When I teach infants and children, I want them to have fun while learning, learn to develop self control and respect for others, and grow independently as the unique individual God wants them to be. My favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5 & 6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
I have been associated with Valley Presbyterian School for 13 years where both of my children have attended. As first a parent, second a substitute teacher and finally a teacher I understand the value of a good education. While in the role of parent, I served as the PTF President enjoying the many activities offered at Valley Presbyterian School. My past experience includes previously owning a Gymboree where I used my educational background to teach music and movement to the children. After my Gymboree experience, the Lord answered my prayers by leading me to my current position as teacher in the Angel Babies class. I spend my day fulfilling my passion of nurturing and loving these beautiful babies God has placed in my class. I love being silly and having fun as I play, sing, and share the love of Jesus with the children. I strive to meet their needs and provide a loving environment where these children can flourish and grow. My favorite Bible verse is II Timothy 3:14-15 “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”
My Name is Jamesetta Thompson and I have several duties at Valley Presbyterian School which includes the Nutrition Coordinator, PM Angel Babies Caregiver, and giving teachers their breaks throughout the day. I’ve worked at Valley Presbyterian Pre-school for 17 years with an extensive college education in Child Development. I credit my passion for wanting to work with young children with The Church on the Way, where I have attended for over 20 years, now. The Lord put it on my heart to have the nature of Christ by showing compassion and having a caring heart, as I teach and show the love of Christ to the little children in my care. I love what I do and know that the children appreciate the nutritional snacks I prepare for them each day. The best part of my job is seeing children grow as they move through Valley Presbyterian School from Infants on and then come back after leaving our school to give hugs and share their fond memories with me. It’s truly a blessing and amazing, making my job that much more rewarding. Each day I pray that the Lord my Savior will give me the strength I need to meet life’s challenges, which is why my favorite bible verse is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
My name is Elaine Scott and I am a PM Angel Babies Teacher. I have been teaching preschool children for 34 years. I enjoy all ages of children, and my education includes Preschool Administration and Infant Studies. In addition to working at Valley Presbyterian School I work for LAUSD as a Special Ed Assistant. I love teaching because I learn when I teach. I love the look of joy when a child “gets it”, the excitement of discovery, the smile on a child’s face, and helping a little one feel better after getting a “boo boo”. I enjoy working in a Christian school because I can share the love of Jesus with everyone and pray with the children. I also have been a Sunday school teacher at my church for the past 20 years which brings me joy. My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:6 “Be anxious for nothing but in everything let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard you heart and mind in Christ Jesus.” I have experienced some difficult situations in life, and this verse has been a source of comfort for me.
My name is Tonya Edwards and I teach the Saviors Seedlings class. I majored in Child Development at Cal State Northridge. I have been teaching for 14 years at Valley Presbyterian School, and having taught in every age group from infants to the 3’s, I’d have to say that it’s the toddlers— ages 12 months – 18 months that is by far my favorite. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to teach these little ones not only about life and the world around them; but also about the Lord and what He’s done for them. With the Savior’s Seedlings class, I am blessed to witness so much growth in this small window of time. My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 96: 1&2 which says “Sing to the Lord a new song… Proclaim His salvation day after day.” That’s what we’re able to do in the Savior’s Seedlings class; sing and praise the Lord while we learn and grow.
My name is Shayne de la Guardia and I am a graduate of Valley Presbyterian School. I joined the elementary staff in 2011 and the preschool staff in 2013. I studied Child Development for two years at Moorpark College and am currently working towards my B.S. at the University of La Verne. My passion for teaching is rooted in Matthew 19:14, which says, “Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” I find great joy and responsibility in preparing God’s children to be servants of the Lord.
Hello! My name is Kaylene Hayes, and I am a Preschool Teacher in the Kingdom Kids Classroom. For the past 16 years, I have had the experience of teaching, instructing, and directing children of all ages. For twelve of those years, I was a Behavior Therapist specializing in the care of children with autism and special needs. It’s an honor to walk in my calling and to work for the Lord at Valley Presbyterian School ministering, teaching and praying with preschoolers. My favorite verse in the Bible is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” My passion is to help each student strive to be leaders academically, as well as socially, and to be followers of Jesus Christ.
My name is Wendy Glover and I teach the Transitional Kindergarten Class. I have been serving our Lord Jesus Christ for the past 23 years by teaching in the preschool at Valley Presbyterian School. One of the greatest joys in my life is sharing His love as I read His word, provide hands-on lessons through every day experiences, and teach the children in my care how to pray. I feel blessed to work for a school with bountiful resources and knowledgeable leaders and staff who are willing to share and help nurture His little children. My desire is that these little ones will one day accept Jesus as their personal Savior. My favorite Bible verse is Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.”
My name is Evangeline Agolloso, and I am the God’s Garden teacher. I have a BS in Industrial Education, and while teaching in the Philippines, God shipped me to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1985 to meet HIM. Employed as an Arts & Crafts Instructor at the Recreation Dept. of King Fahad Hospital, I was also assigned to teach preschool. This started my preschool career and during this time, I committed my life to the LORD. Since then, I developed a passion to teach the little children. I joined the Valley Presbyterian School staff in 1997. I am privileged to teach the God’s Garden (Pre K) class. What a blessing to work in this ministry, serving The Lord of the universe and be a parent partner to educate their children in preparation for God’s perfect plan for their life. Teaching ABC’s and 123’s to children while simultaneously imprinting JESUS’ love in their hearts is my commitment to make a difference in their life. My favorite Bible Verse is Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the LORD JESUS, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
My name is Gennie Glover and I am a teacher in the Heavenly Sprouts (Toddler Class).I have received my education in Early Childhood Development at Los Angeles mission College. I have been teaching and caring for children for 12 years, and I love that children share their joy and love unconditionally. My favorite part of working with children is seeing the “light” come on when they have learned and or mastered a task. Working at a Christian school gives me the opportunity to share and plant the seeds of God’s word in their hearts and watch them flourish as they grow in this big world we live in. I have great appreciation for the amazing things God has created, such as my love for the beach and sea turtles. My favorite verse is Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus is the same, yesterday, and forever.”
I started my teaching career as a Teacher’s Assistant. Previously, I had worked with children from preschool through sixth grade. I acquired my Multiple Teaching Credential from Azusa Pacific University. My family and I have been members at Valley Presbyterian Church for three years. It has been a blessing teaching preschoolers. I truly believe that the Lord has led me to be part of the ministry at Valley Presbyterian Preschool. I want to teach our children not only the academics to be successful, but to teach them about God’s Love and to follow Him. My favorite Bible verse is 1 John 4:8 God is Love. During my spare time, I enjoy gardening. Also, I love hiking trails with my husband, our son and two dogs.
