We believe the Bible to be the only inspired, infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God and is our only infallible rule for faith and practice.
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who created the heavens and earth and that all things were made by Him and for Him.
We believe in Jesus Christ, who being the eternal Son of God, was born of a virgin and became a man, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died a vicarious and atoning death for the forgiveness of sin, was bodily resurrected, ascended to the right hand of God, and will physically return in power and glory.
We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of mankind, and that men and women are justified by faith alone in Christ, and that only by God’s grace through faith alone are we saved.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of eternal life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of condemnation.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling we are empowered and enabled to do those good works which God prepared in advance for us to do.
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person biologically male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. A rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
We believe that “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one biological man and one biological woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. We believe that God commands sexual intimacy to occur only between a biological man and a biological woman who are married to each other.
We believe that for matters of belief and conduct, this Statement of Faith provides the underpinnings of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Valley Presbyterian Church and school’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, the Session (active ruling and teaching elders) is VPC’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application. For church members, any disputes regarding this authority can only be appealed through the process outlined in the PCA Book of Church Order. For school employees and volunteers, any disputes regarding this authority can only be appealed through the process outlined in the VPS Employee Handbook.
